1. Eskimo E40 Electric Ice Fishing Auger

Highlight: 40V battery-powered auger delivers fast, quiet, and fume-free drilling with the power to cut through thick ice effortlessly.
Supportive Review: Awesome ice auger! it cuts through ice like butter. I did some research on a handful of top ice auger brands and decided to go with Eskimo. I was hesitant to spend this much money on a powered auger but it has already made life easier from drilling holes with a manual ice auger. It is very powerful with the 40 volt lithium battery. It’s a bit heavy but that is expected from a powered auger. If you’re in the market for a powered ice auger look no further, Eskimo is the way to go!
Trending Review: I am a mom who brings my teen icefishing. He can do it mostly on his own. My husband has an electric auger too but it was heavy or he didn’t want to dig it out of the back of the garage. So I bought this for my son as his own auger. It is so light and fits in his sled perfectly. It makes it much easier to go out fishing. Someone was willing to give us a gas one but I didn’t want a gas engine in my SUV. Worth the price and well made. Fishing is on!
2. THUNDERBAY 33cc 8″ Power Ice Auger

Highlight: Power through thick ice with ease using the THUNDERBAY 33cc 8″ Power Ice Auger, delivering strong 33cc gas performance and an 8-inch cutting blade for fast, reliable hole drilling in harsh winter conditions.
Supportive Review: 5 star all the way. When I first received my auger, the box was all beat up from Amazon and there was some damage due to Amazons DEI policies. I got in touch with Thunderbay and they sent me the broken during Amazon shipping very fast. I received in in 2 days. WOW!!! I know.
The gas auger was a bit hard to start at first but the more I use it the easier it gets.
I find it is a bit tall. The 8 inch auger though eats right through the ice with no trouble. Here in northern Ohio we have right around 10 inches of ice and I am so happy I don’t have to use the armstrong method.
I have a problem with AMAZON delivery folks damaging my ice auger. There ignorance decision of only delivering to the front door is ridiculous. The poor person had to carry this across our yard 80 feet and up steps, where they could have just drove to the back by the ramp and use the ramp and traveled a total of less then 20 fett. Are they working for the people steeling?
Trending Review: Just picked one up this weekend. Nice little auger! The blades appear to be the same style of chipper blades that you see on some of the “Big” brands. Unpacked it and gassed it up and it started right up. It appears to have plenty of power… so now we just wait for the ice, right?
3. PROYAMA Ice Auger

Highlight: Power through thick ice effortlessly with the PROYAMA Ice Auger, delivering reliable high-torque drilling and fast, clean holes for efficient ice fishing
Supportive Review: Needed a chuck adapter for my 20v drill. Using my drill it could not cut the ice hardly. Ended up killing my drill, grounding out the gears in it and left it smoking. However, was very thankful that the hand attachment was there and worked really well. Cut 12 inches of ice fast and easy. Would recommend. You probably will just need a more powerful drill than mine.
Trending Review: The Proyama manual ice auger is everything I was looking for in a hand-powered tool. It’s lightweight and easy to transport, yet incredibly sturdy and well-designed. The sharp blades make cutting through thick ice surprisingly effortless, even for a manual auger.
I appreciate the ergonomic handles—they provide a solid grip and make drilling much more comfortable, even during extended use. It’s also great to know that I can rely on this auger without needing to deal with fuel or engines, making it low-maintenance and eco-friendly.
For anyone who enjoys ice fishing and wants a dependable, efficient manual auger, the Proyama is an excellent choice. Highly recommended!
4. PPOLB Ice Auger Bit

Highlight: Heavy-duty PPOLB Ice Auger Bit delivers fast, clean drilling through thick ice with its sharp cutting blades and durable, cold-resistant construction.
Supportive Review: Have used it 2 winters now, id guess around 100 holes. Its light, works great on my Bauer 20V drill with a 5ah battery. I drilled about 30 holes in 10″ of ice one day on a single charge and still could have drilled more. Blades seem good, just like any blade if you know how to take care of them. Id buy it again if ever needed.
Trending Review: Put I. A dewalt dcd999 and this cut through the ice faster than my gassers any day. I was skeptical at first to go to the drill type auger but have been sold with the lightweight, compact, effortless drilling this auger provides. Only thing that may be a bummer is the blades are not replaceable at this time. The price is great though as other drills of more name brands are 3 times the $$!
5. Strike Master Mora 2-Piece Hand Auger

Highlight: Effortlessly drill through ice with the durable, two-piece Strike Master Mora Hand Auger for fast, precise ice fishing.
Supportive Review: This worked really well and was pretty easy to get through about 8″ of ice. Later in the season we had about 20+ inches and this was a chore. If you’re just pan fishing, I would recommend getting a 6″ instead and save your arm. I did make a drill attachment and that made using this substantially easier. I didn’t get one of the attachments you can buy on here because if they fall out of your drill, down through the hole they go.
I made one out of rebar and welded a nut driving bit to the end, then attached a small board perpendicular to the rebar so if it drops out, the board will catch it. The very first hole I drilled the bit came out as I was pulling the auger back up and I just watched it fall and the board stopped it perfectly.
Trending Review: This auger is very well made and will cut through a foot of ice in under a minute. The blades are incredibly sharp and you need to be very careful when handling this auger. Use the included blade guard and realize in only installs in one direction.
I read reviews where people said the blades came loose. Mine were tight but… I did put blue thread locker on the threads and re tightened them so this wouldn’t be an issue.
This is the only ice auger I’ve ever used, but I noticed dozens of other anglers using the same one out on the lake.
Buy it and you won’t be disappointed.
