1. Gamo Swarm Magnum Break Barrel Air Rifle

Highlight: Delivers extreme power and precision with its 10-shot rotary magazine and IGT Mach 1 gas piston technology.
Constructive Review: Alright, let’s talk about why the Gamo Swarm Magnum 10X GEN3i Inertia Fed .22 Caliber Break Barrel Air Rifle is hands-down one of the most awesome air rifles out there. If you’re into power, precision, and just flat-out fun, this beast delivers in spades.
First off, the power—this thing slings .22 caliber pellets at up to 1,300 fps with alloy ammo. That’s serious knockdown force, perfect for small game like rabbits or squirrels, or just obliterating targets in your backyard. The IGT Mach 1 gas piston is the heart of it, a 33mm cylinder that pumps out consistent, jaw-dropping velocity with way less vibration than a traditional springer. Smoother shots, less fatigue, and you can leave it cocked without worrying about wear—try that with a lesser rifle.
Then there’s the 10X GEN3i inertia-fed magazine. Ten shots without reloading? Yes, please. The system uses recoil to index the next pellet, so follow-up shots are lightning-fast and seamless. It’s like having a semi-auto feel in a break-barrel package—revolutionary stuff. Load it up, break the barrel, and you’re ready to rock again. No fumbling with single pellets in the cold or heat of the moment.
Accuracy? Oh, it’s there. Pair it with the right pellets (Gamo Red Fires or some heavy hitters like H&N Barracudas), and you’re drilling tight groups at 25-50 yards. The two-stage adjustable CAT trigger lets you dial in the perfect pull—crisp, clean, and tailored to you. Add the included 3-9×40 scope, and you’re picking off targets with precision that’ll make your buddies jealous.
And let’s not skip the Whisper Fusion tech—dual sound moderators make this one of the quietest in Gamo’s lineup. It’s not silent, but it’s stealthy enough to keep the neighbors from griping while you dispatch pests. The all-weather stock feels solid, with a grippy texture that’s built to handle whatever you throw at it.
Cocking takes some muscle (41 lbs of effort), but that’s the trade-off for this kind of power. Once you get the hang of it, it’s a small price to pay for a rifle that hits this hard and shoots this well. Whether you’re hunting, plinking, or just showing off, the Gamo Swarm Magnum 10X GEN3i is a game-changer. Pure, unadulterated airgun awesomeness. -Augustine
Trending Review: What a powerful and spot-on break-barrel pellet rifle this is! You do need some strength to cock it, especially at first. I’m in my late 70s and had to build up a little muscle to cock it, but now that I can, it’s my favorite pellet rifle. It’s as accurate as my PCP pellet rifle. It’s surprisingly quiet for having such power. The ONLY drawback is Gamo does not recommend shooting slugs from the gun. I assume it’s because of possible magazine damage because of the unique recoil-feed magazine system they have. No big hardship, though. -Carl Facciponte
Reassuring Review: Love my Magnum! Very powerful, very accurate. It is a bit stout to cock but the power this thing has is well worth it. I have found that mine likes the Gamo Red Fire, and Gamo Rockets. 1″ groups at 35 yards. The scope is nice but after around 250-300 shots ,the cross hairs started to rotate inside the scope. Called customer service and told them and they sent a replacement out same day.
Very good customer service! It is a Magnum and you will find out that these high power springers are very hard on scopes, I’ve researched and found a Zero Recoil scope mount that will save your scope, and you can use any scope with it, not just an airgun scope. Hope this helps if you are deciding to get one, and I highly recommend this gun. It’s a blast to shoot! -Menfi
2. Gamo Silent Cat Break Barrel Pellet Air Rifle

Highlight: Whisper-quiet shots with powerful velocity—perfect for stealthy, high-performance shooting.
Constructive Review: I’ve shot a few hundred rounds through the Silent Cat. Accuracy is AMAZING, essentially same hole groups at 20yds**. With the muzzle velocity chronograph at 1030 +/- 10fps, it is as loud as a standard “10 pump” pellet gun which has a velocity around 650fps. Essentially, sounds like a BB gun!
The suppressor does NOT quiet down the shot when using the PBA ammo, which gives Muzzle Velocities of 1280-1330fps, jumping into supersonic. With PBA ammo, a report like a ladyfinger firecracker going off is heard due to the “mini sonic boom” of the projectile. The suppressor DOES protect the muzzle, which is a good enough reason to get this model. The last 1mm of barrel effects accuracy more than the rest of the length! The muzzle crown (where the pellet exits), must be cut perfectly at 90 degrees with no nicks or dings so the air pushing the pellet exits uniformly.
I have a Gamo Big Cat, and an RWS, the Big Cat is .177, and it is quite a bit louder than the Silent Cat, about 50-80 fps slower from the muzzle (may just be the gun, not sure without more tests). The Big Cat is noticeably louder than the Silent Cat when it comes to game downrange. The RWS is about the same loudness as the silent cat, but it is pushing a .22 cal pellet weighing 3x as much at only 800fps.
The bundled scope is solid, good eye relief, the only minor issue is in bright light, the VERY bright fiber dots on the iron sights “wash” into the scope slightly.
The BIGGEST feature of this rifle, the reason I bought it, is the skeleton stock. It allows for the same grip as a thumb-hole stock on a 10/22, or the grip on an AR rifle or most handguns. This comfort feature alone has increased accuracy and quicker muzzle on target.
CONS:
1) Length of 2 stage trigger is adjustable, but the weight isn’t. I wish it was the other way around.
2) NOT related to the air rifle, but to Gamo Pellets. They cost the same as premium pellets, but have the accuracy of popular “$5 for 500” pellets. If a rifle doesn’t seem to be accurate, try shooting Polymag or similar True Match pellets! For every day plinking, using any 8 grain pellet will hit close to the point of aim, and for a lot cheaper!** With regards to accuracy, If you MUST have first shot hits, splurge and get machined pellets. I am in love with Polymag Predator Pellets, they group “same hole” for me at 20yds. The Gamo “red tip” pellets, which LOOK VERY simliar to the polymag, but have casting marks and extrusions down the skirt, tend group at about 1/2″ at the same distance the premium pellets go practically in the same hole. Velocity for both is close, with the polymag being a bit faster and more stable.
Overall – You will Not Regret getting one of these, whether for hobby target or hunting small game out to 50 yards! -Oreste
Trending Review: I bought the Gamo Silent Cat air rifle to have some fun and be able to shoot in my basement. During the current ammo shortage, pellets are inexpensive and I can shoot a lot for next to nothing.
To start off with, I am not going to cover all of the features of the Silent Cat because all of the other reviews do a pretty good job of describing the rifle. I will start off by saying that I didn’t like the 4×32 scope so I upgraded to the Gamo 3x9x50 AO scope and used the UTG high mount single piece base and love this setup. If you buy the Gamo 3x9x50 AO scope, you have to buy either a high rise base or high rings because the front of the scope hits the barrel of the rifle.
Next is the noise of the rifle, it is not silent. I am currently shooting Crossman Premiere Ultra Magnum 10.5 lead pellets and the gun is louder than I expected. If you are a shooter, it sounds like a 10/22 going off but only 1/2 as loud. The rifle’s sound is slightly below the level of needing hearing protection. Bottom line is that if you live in town, your neighbors will probably hear you if you live close quarters and they are outside when you are shooting.
Now for the good stuff, the rifle is highly accurate, very powerful and very fun to shoot. At 30 feet, I am able to keep a 4 shot group the size of a dime using the Crossman Premiere Ultra Magnum 10.5 lead pellets . If I try a different pellet like the Gamo Pro Magnum 7.8 lead pellets, my groups move to a different impact point, but they still keep a consistent group size. I haven’t shot the rifle any further than 30 feet so I don’t know about it’s accuracy at longer ranges. As for power, it was leaving dents in my marksman pellet trap so I had to buy the Do-All Outdoors .22/.17 Bullet Box to be able to shoot in my basement without destroying my pellet trap.
The bottom line of my review is that this is a great rifle for $149. It is powerful, highly accurate and very fun to shoot. It is also not silent, but still not too loud. -Methew
Reassuring Review: After shooting a few dozen rounds, I have to say I am really impressed with this air rifle. I was able to sight in my scope within a quarter of an inch of every place I aimed with the rifle. The target was set about 25 yards away. At first, I shot 5 pellets just outside the bulls-eye until I relaxed and aimed better. Then I shot a couple right in the middle of the bulls-eye. After that, I aimed at the small numbers on the circles around the bulls-eye and nailed them. Then I aimed my last shot at the right side of the target at an imaginary number, and again was within a quarter of an inch of where I was aiming. I was very pleased.
The scope is better than most of the reviews say. It can be adjusted for a person’s vision by turning the end of the scope. I was able to shoot small game very successfully with clean, ethical kill shots. When you mount the scope, take your time. It is not the easiest to mount, but once you get it on, it is secure. Don’t forget to use gun oil on the “O” ring where you insert the pellet. Another thing I like about this air rifle is that it is not real heavy. The composite stock makes it lighter than wood and easier to handle. The breaking of the barrel to prepare to shoot is not difficult either, once you get the hang of it. If you have any questions, feel free to let me know. -Roger Y.
3. Umarex unisex adult Ruger Blackhawk

Highlight: Ruger Blackhawk: Tough, accurate, and hits up to 1000 FPS.
Constructive Review: Even though rifle had been on sale on Amazon $30 less it is a good value at this price point.
Love every thing about this rifle. The operations manual is clear & concise, suggest it be read & ALL suggestions, recommendations & warnings be followed, especially warning rifle is NOT a toy & should not be operated by youth w/o supervision. Danger zone is nearly 2,000′ & should be taken seriously.
Warning to tighten stock screws before & during firing sessions is a MUST. Umarex used blue(removable) Loctite but apparently oil in screw hole allowed screws to back out. I cleaned screw holes thoroughly & reapplied blue Loctite. Will let it set before using rifle again.
Cleaned barrel w/Clean Bore twice but rifle diesel first two rounds then got progressively quieter w/each round afterwards.
Absolutely love the fiber optic sights. Sighted in at 30′, 50′ & 80′. I see no need for scope & have not opened packaging. Successfully hit soft ball sized target at 100′ after 50 rounds downrange. Squirrels & rabbits I will be shooting are well w/in this range.
Some sissy reviewers complained about rifle being hard to cock. I am 80 years old & had no problem following instructions in operation manual.
Fit & finish are good, take-up adjustment on trigger works well.
Started w/Winchester hollow point pellets but will try several of the other brands available. All are reasonably priced.
If you like to plink or shoot pest in an environment w/noise or firearm restrictions this is a good answer at a reasonable price just remember that 2,000′ downrange danger zone.
I recommend this rifle highly. – Luka
Trending Review: I am not a ‘professional’ when it comes to air guns, but I find this one a superior value! I had a Beeman Sportsman for the past 15 years that I was reasonably happy with – killed many hundreds of squirrels with it in my back yard trying to keep the nasty things out of my attic. (I had both nut and fruit trees in the yard, so the danged things were constantly mobbing me – tree rats are very cute and GREAT eating, but they do a LOT of damage when they move into the house!) That Beeman springer would generally hold about 1″ groups at 15 yards, but the internal piston seals got hard and started breaking up recently, so I was looking for a replacement. I tried a new Beeman Sportsman, and it was pure garbage – I will never buy another of that brand.
This Ruger/Umarex has surpassed all my expectations. I have fired several hundred rounds through it in the past few days, and it will generally hold 1/2″ or less groups at 15 yards. It holds the same point of aim out at 25 yards, but the groups open up to about an inch, or maybe a bit more (I really have not shot too much at that longer range). I am using bulk Crosman lead wad-cutter “Competition” pellets (the cheapest ones I could find on Amazon), and the results are so good I feel no need to test any others.
I love the safely placement and operation – FAR superior to the garbage Beeman makes; it is both easy to reach and take off, as well as put back on if I decide not to take the shot. And the trigger on this Ruger is just superb. It is adjustable, but it has been so smooth and perfect right out of the box that I have not made any changes.
It is still kind of early for me to pass judgement on the scope, but it seems pretty good for one just included with a sub-$100 gun. It has surprising heft, which indicates to me it may be of decent quality, and it does seem to hold point of aim after it is adjusted. The only negative so far is that it SEEMED to be a bit erratic on the click adjustments – sometimes moving the POI far too much with only a click or two. But it is still possible that what I was seeing was simply my poor shooting. After I got it all sighted in, I have been loath to start screwing with it to re-test the adjustments.
I have not checked the velocity yet with my chronograph, but frankly, everything else about this gun seems so nice that I do not really care if it fully meets the specs for velocity or not. Cannot believe this was less than $100!
One last comment on accuracy that has nothing to do with this specific gun – I found that I cannot use a full bench rest stand to test it (for the same reason you cannot use a normal scope on an air gun). The forward “recoil” of the mechanism causes the gun to jump in the cradle, which results in vertical strings (I had never tried this rest with an air gun before, so the results initially surprised me). Only after I started shouldering the gun and just letting the forearm rest on the front cradle did I start getting really accurate results. -Mauser
Reassuring Review: If you’re looking for a cheap toy gun for your kid, this isn’t it. You can tell this rifle is made by a reputable firearms company. Even before you take it out of the box, you can feel the heft to this rifle. It’s solid. Fit and finish on it is pretty good. The bluing on the barrel is excellent. This rifle has hi-visibility fiber optic sights, front and rear. The rear sight is adjustable for windage and elevation. It took little time to sight it in with “iron sights”.
This rifle goes off with an almost .22-like “bang”. It’s not the quietest air rifle in the world, but who cares? I have not shot an air rifle since I was a kid. And I could not believe the changes that have been made to these things over the years. It’s a hard hitter, and shoots nice and flat. I sighted in for 25 yards, and put in pretty respectable groups.
I’ve read some complaints on here about the scope. I’m not sure how other people mount their scopes, but generally it’s a good practice to use Loctite on the screws when you mount an optic. I mounted mine just fine. It’s plenty tight. I used a BSA bore sighter and got it lined up before firing any shots through it. Once I fired the first shot, it took me about 8-9 shots to get zeroed in. That’s not too bad. Now it’s practically dead on. I didn’t have any problems with the scope being fuzzy or any other quirks. People have to remember that it’s an air gun scope, not a Nikon or a Leupold. It’s to be used for fun, not competition. If you want to compete, spend the extra money on something else. But for everyday use, the scope provided will work just fine.
All in all, it’s a good purchase. I’m not going to complain a bit about buying an American made product with Ruger’s name on it. It’s solid, and will hold up to hard use in the field. And for a hundred bucks, you can’t beat it. It’s got plenty of power, and it’s accurate. If you can get those qualities in a rifle for that price, you are making a good purchase.
Very pleased with it, overall. -Clark
4. Gamo 611006875554 Swarm Whisper Air Rifle

Highlight: Whisper-quiet shooting with 10-shot rapid-fire capability for smooth, powerful performance.
Constructive Review: Wow I just received the Gamo 611006875554 Swarm Whisper Air Rifle.22 Caliber, Black a few days ago. And as a natural born skeptic I usually put more weight to the negative reviews. So I was on the lookout for shoddy packaging at first. No such thing this gun was packaged professionally. Next, I figured the scope would be a piece of junk as many opined throughout the reviews.
Honestly, I am not anything near a professional regarding scopes. But I will say my 1st shot at a squirrel which had caused $1,454 in damage to my Ford Raptor was 1 shot 1 kill. The scope came out of the box up to the task of a 50 yard shot. The Gamo .22 pellets worked so well it killed the little piece of crap immediately. The gun has hefty weight and is of course louder than an average pelllet gun. But it was quiet when compared with my friends .22 crossman. I don’t know…but right off the rip this rifle impressed the hell out of me! -James
Trending Review: I had some doubts when I unpacked the rifle, it came very neatly packaged as a matter of fact, it’s lightweight compared to other rifles that I own but as soon as I had the first shot I knew that I had a winner. It pack a tremendous punch and it’s very silent which is a very important factor for me. Very consistently precise @ 25 yards using lead pellets 18 gr . I’m glad that I ordered a better scope , got a 4 x 16 40 at good price and it’s worth the money. Perfect for backyard shooting. I had to upgrade my target plywood board, it went through 1 1/2 inches of hard plywood very clean. Love the magazine for the 10 shots, very easy and fun to use, I ordered already 5 more magazines. The trigger it’s perfect , I really recommend this rifle it worth every single penny. -Erica
Reassuring Review: So I assembled the scope and took it out to shoot some targets. I loaded the 10 shot mag. Shot at an old can. windage was spot on out of the box. but just standing and holding the rifle, target about 2ft lower than my shoulder, it shot about 1.5-2 inches too low. Out of the corner of my eye, I see a chipmunk, which they have been eating my GF’s garden and the reason we bought this gun…. I took aim, about 1.5 inches high, and harvested the chipmunk, this was probably the 5th or 6th shot through the rifle and its very easy to hit your target. There aren’t any iron sites, so you need the scope. The one provided is pretty good.
For the cost, this is a great value. It has a great quality feel. I didn’t see any instructions in the box for assembly or usage, but its pretty simple and easy to figure out.So far so good, I am glad I purchased this rifle and hope it lasts for years to come. I will be looking into other Gamo brand guns because I am happy with this one. -Phil Wisconsin
5. Gamo Wildcat Whisper Air Rifle

Highlight: Whisper-quiet power with precision shooting—perfect for backyard plinking and small game hunting.
Constructive Review: Great rifle. Shoots straight consistently, it’s light, strong, relatively quiet, easy pump. Better than I expected for the money. I have rifles that cost three times as much and don’t shoot as straight. THE SCOPE is JUNK! From reading reviews I ordered a good scope also. Had I not I wouldn’t have been able to use my new toy. The scope that came with the rifle was crap out of the box. Unusable. I knew from reading the reviews that it was crap but was still surprised at how cheap it was. However, even with the price of a new scope the gun is well worth the cost. Gamo needs to stop putting a worthless scope on a great well-made gun. This review would not have been as favorable had I not known prior to purchase about dthe scope. Love the gun! -Sara Jane Herschberger
Trending Review: 2nd day shooting, I found 8 gram Predator Polymag Pellet with the red pointed tips, great match. Sighted cross hairs in at 60 ft , then put target at 120 ft.
5 shots in a row ,with 3 different shooters ..had paper splitting group.!!! Impressive as well Exceptional to held amongst 5 shots alone. But 3 different shooters,Says this combo is Dialed tad High but in the Kill Zone.. I’ve ordered more Heavier sized pellets to possibly find more Hitting impact, as well tight consistant grouping. I am using a different scope than supplied with as well required an adapter to convert dovetail to piccany style mount. Tho I didn’t like the extra space it created, it somehow staying dialed beautifully 60 to 120 feet very well. Plan to expand range soon and try other ammo. Tho I think cleaning barrel after a days shooting then possibly one cleaning pellet shot , it be 100 % faithful. Provided ammo is 99% free of burrs. You get quality shooting with quality ammo.
Just recently have shot the Baracuda Power 10.65 gram pellets and have adjusted optics to this particular pellet. It had shown little higher, tad right compared to the previous Predators. Found that heavier and slightly better ammo to be optimal. Long range is critical of knowing the ammo can hold tight groups. 40 yards is spot on. What could better for price of the rifle, as well matched with dependable ammo? Always best to try multiple pellets. Start at 60ft( 20 yards). See what drills same holes. Always inspect ammo when sighting rifle. Put aside any pellets that may look under par for plinking later. -Darren Bailey
Reassuring Review: My Wildcat Whisper shoots excellent groups at 25 yards on rabbit size targets. Charging the break barrel requires some effort on my part compared to my Beeman air rifle but once charged the Wildcat has plenty of penetration power with Gamo standard (Red Fire and Rocket) 0.177 pellets on rabbit size targets at the 25 yard distance that I shoot.
No close neighbors so the sound is not a consideration using standard non-alloy pellets that do not break the sound barrier. I did not install the rifle scope that came with the Wildcat as I already had a better ($150) rifle scope that I use on it. The Gamo supplied rifle scope does not seem to be of high quality, so budget for a better scope just in case. Easy to zero in and so far the scope stays locked on target with no scope mis-alignment from the recoil. I would buy this model again. -Huizopa
6. Gamo 6110067954 Raptor Whisper

Highlight: Packed with power and precision, the Gamo Bone Collector delivers lethal accuracy with every shot.
Constructive Review: Was going to throw the scope away after reading all the “bad reviews”, but decided to install and try it, Got a little frustrated trying to install rings & scope together ( that’s how they came in box ) so I took the scope out and installed the bottom only, then added scope, and was a “much better” way to install** Took about 8 /10 shots to zero,@ 20 yds. but it did zero. Rifle was a little louder, than I expected, but was getting quieter as I shot more rounds ( still has a mild “pop” ). Not much adjustment to focus clear, but some of that may be due to my 75 year old eyes.
I had a “better” scope, I had used on a 22 rifle some years back, that I mounted on the rifle using the rings that came with the Gamo and it made it a much better rifle for me. It does take a little “”extra strength”” for an old man to cock, but that too, was less of a strain, the more I shot it. Per reviews, I used *Exact Heavy Diablo* pellets, simply because, review said the rifle was “quieter” and more accurate with a heavy pellet. This was my first time using a pellet rifle and I am pleased with this rifle and the price. I highly recommend the pellet pen and the Hoppe’s Bore Snake, to go along with the rifle. I cleaned the barrel, before shooting and tried getting the pellets out of the can**** ( pellet pen is much better ) -James
Trending Review: We recently moved from the country into town and I needed to humble myself and buy my first pellet gun to help reduce the groundhog and rabbit population in our garden…and the occasional raccoon. I say “humble” because having lived in the country for my 40 years of life AND having helped out at a small Gun Shop for about 10 years, I have my own collection and experience with rimfire and centerfire rifles…of which I would’ve preferred to just use one of my .22LR rifles! 🙂
I spent a lot of time reading and watching many Reviews of various air rifles to help in my decision process of getting the best bang for my buck (pun intended) and to hopefully not be disappointed with my purchase.
A buddy loaned me his Crosman Pump Rifle in .177-caliber. I didn’t care for it for various reasons. A co-worker loaned me his Gamo CFR…it’s a .177-caliber, spring-piston, fixed-barrel, under-cock rifle. I liked the open-sights but knew I would need a scope for my shots. I liked the idea of the fixed-barrel, but didn’t like the rotary bolt with feed-ramp…was hard to load pellets.
I chose Gamo brand because 1) their broad variety of rifles to choose from and 2) the amount of quality for the price. As I stated, I have several firearms already, so I didn’t want to invest a lot of money…I have a wife and 2 kids to think about (most of my firearms were purchased before I got married 5 years ago)…and we just bought a new house too, so we have to make buy things to make it more to our liking. 🙂
I chose the Gas Piston over the Spring Piston because 1) it doesn’t have the ‘twang’ like the Spring and 2) you can leave it cocked for a long period of time without worrying about damage like with Springs. It takes a bit of effort to cock the gun, so I leave it loaded for 1) quicker access and 2) my wife can use it too…though almost nearly impossible for her to re-cock on her own. But this is meant for “me”, so I’m not negatively assessing the amount of force needed to cock.
I chose the .177-caliber over the .22-caliber simply because this is my first air rifle and I knew that .177 has been around longer…so potentially more pellet options to choose from.
I chose the Bone Collector Bull Whisper because of the cost, the features (Gas, SAT trigger, Whisper), the looks, and the positive reviews. Most air rifle Combos come with less-than-adequate scopes (fixed power and/or no Adjustable Objective). Some Combos come with a nice scope (3-9X or 4-16X with Adjustable Objective), but you might not be getting the exact rifle that you’d like. So I opted to get the gun I wanted and then buy a separate scope that I’d like (UTG 3-9X40AO Mil-Dot).
Using PBA pellets, this air rifle is as loud as my .22LR, but it’s an “air rifle”, so I’m LEGAL to shoot it where I live vs. using an actual firearm. It’s obviously not as loud when I use lead pellets either.
The only thing that “seems” like it would be nice to have would be Open Sights. However, I knew I would mount a Scope on the rifle, so I didn’t make Open Sights a big priority. They certainly provide a certain amount of “sport” and require much more steadiness. They also allow you to still use the gun should your scope ever break or fail and need removed…but maybe my 2nd air rifle will have Open Sights, or maybe my 3rd one. 🙂
I killed my first groundhog with this rifle the other day…11 yard shot to the forehead with Gamo PBA pellet. Twitched around for a while, but pretty much died where I shot him. -Gerbers
Reassuring Review: I awaited anxiously the opportunity to rate this Aiir Rifle, simply because I had pondered over the facts that had been published about this Air Rifle and the negative ratings of the scope that comes with it. The Air Rifle arrived two days before it’s due date with the outer box rather beaten up, but the packaged Air Rifle was packed well. As for the Raptor Whisper Air Rifle, I was impressed as to it’s appearance and feel, this was no Pelet/BB gun. This Raptor Air Rifle has Rifling in the barrel Distinguishing it from other air rifles, which means no BBs should be used with this Air Rifle, and what kinda capped my decision in purchasing this Air Rifle.
I checked out the scope that was provided and decided not to use it as I had reserved one of my extra hunting scope for it. (NOTE) You will not be able to use any other mounting rings other than the ones provide by GAMO as the rifle scope groves are way to small for anything else. No problem after switching out the scope mounting rings I was able to mount my reserved scope and ready to test this Air Rifle out, I have never owned an Air Rifle or fired one, but having a varmit problem I didn’t care to use a small arm 22 as I didn’t care to be arrested for discharging a firearm within the city limits. After firing the Raptor Whisper Air Rifle for the first time, I asked why do they call it WHISPER as the report on this Air Rifle was as loud as the report coming out of my 22 Ruger.
The velocity of this Air Rifle was no, and I mean NO disappointment, as I fired at a 2×3 post-it @ 25yrds and no it wasn’t dead center but just off dead center, I fired two more rounds and they hit just within 1/8 an inch of each other again with a report of a 22, again bringing up the question where did they come up with the name WHISPER? I am very pleased with the performance of this Air Rifle and when I brought it out when I invited some friends and asked them to fire this Air Rifle they laughed and poked fun at me for even having an Air Rifle. After they fired this Rifle,SILENCE was the only thing present, as they too were surprised of the performance of this Rifle. Goes along with the Cliché “Don’t Knock it Till You Tried It!” You won’t be disappointed with this Air Rifle! -Sgt Rio
7. Barra TPR Break Barrel Air Rifle

Highlight: Delivers impressive power and precision with a tactical design ideal for target shooting and small game hunting.
Constructive Review: Delivery was good. Unboxing revealed a damaged scope box, but everything seemed o.k with the scope.
Unpacked and threw the scope on the couch…after reading all the bad reviews regarding the scope, I figured why bother. Just learn to shoot with open sites, after all its varmint control that does not require 50 to100 yd shots, or a scope for that matter.I started with a open sites and small target of a 4-1/2″ circle (Daisy red rider shooting target) at 21 yards down range. The Iron site are slightly off… so I have to aim a little high and to the left to hit the target….but I AM hitting the target (Bottom of Bush’s baked bean can about 3-1/4″ dia) at 21 yards every time!
Now the for infamous scope. When I first put the scope on on the rifle, I could not hit the target or the background board at 21 yards so I was a little worried. Removed the scope and re-centered both the upper and right & left dials. Remounted the scope and cut the distance to the target to 10 yards. From here I was able to get the scope dialed in pretty good. Moved back out to 21 yards and re-adjusted sites.
Scope works wonderful! See the photo’s. I would consider these results to be very accurate. That little cat food tin was hit 4 out 4 times at 21 yards. That tin is less then 3″ square. What more do you want from a scope ?I used the 2 x 4 to rest the barrel on so this was not total free hand. Different pellet styles work better then others.
This gun has plenty of kill power for small game at 21 yards for sure.
After getting the Barra TPR 1200 dialed in, I’m very happy with the purchase. Do I think the scope and or the rail will break down the road…probably at some point, but an aluminum rail is the fix for $12 if and when that occurs. This particular style ( spring loaded) is hard of scopes.
This air rifle is decent and so is the scope. -Clark
Trending Review: I love, love, love this break barrel pellet gun! My brother recommended it to me. It is very high powered and was was easy to sight in. It’s a little difficult for me to break the barrel to load the pellet. I’m a 67 year old female and don’t have good upper arm strength anymore. Gosh, I hate to admit that! lol! I have to set the stock on the ground, holding it between my knees to break the barrel down, so that I can load it. Anyone much younger probably wouldn’t have any problem.
I did have a great experience with their customer service. The first pellet gun I purchased had something wrong with the scope. I couldn’t get it sighted in. I finally figured out that the front lense in the sight had become crooked and loose. I requested a replacement and before I could box it up and get it to an Amazon return center, they had already shipped another one, to me! I would highly recommend this Barra Pellet gun, if you’re looking for something accurate and high powered! -Rondie
Reassuring Review: We have been a big fan of Pellet, BB, and Airsoft guns as of late, because they are fun to shoot, safer for younger children and ammunition is dirt cheap. This rifle was a good find and is going to be a great addition to our collection. It arrived earlier in the week and today, being Saturday, was the first time my two boys I and I were able to take it out to break it in (they have been so excited about it all week and have not stopped bugging me about shooting it).
Our first impression has been a good one. The gun itself looks legit and was very fun to shoot. I really like the Camo/Black coloring and the attention to detail (Bolt action lever; it’s just for show, but adds to the look). It didn’t take us long to sight in the scope at about 25 yrds and start slaying Zombies (the free Zombie targets were a nice touch and added to the experience). At 1200 FPS this thing really packs a punch. It could easily kill birds, squirrels and other small rodents, so keep an eye on those kids.
This gun has a spring piston, with a pull down barrel to cock (it was a little hard for my 10 year old to cock, but not much of a problem for my 12 year old), similar to the Black Ops Tactical Sniper, which we also own and love. The thing I really liked about this one however, is that it is a little bit smaller/lighter, which made it a lot easier to transport and shoot from a standing position. For quick outings I could see us using this one more often and would highly recommend it for anyone that enjoys shooting. -David B.
8. Gamo 6110017154 Varmint Air Rifle

Highlight: Shoots up to 1,250 FPS with lightweight, accurate performance.
Constructive Review: I got this a couple of years back, but we were about to move and it went into storage. Finally got to sight it in today, and it was pretty simple, taking about 10-15 minutes. I set a target at around 30 yards.
The first test shots were high and a bit right. That required the adjusters to be turned to the LEFT and DOWN (I say this because I did it wrong the first time!). It’s a real trial-and-error approach. It’s a cheap scope, so no fancy help to make sighting easier. So shoot, adjust, shoot, adjust. There’s a lot of turn in these adjusters, so don’t be afraid to get “twisting by the pool!” Just be sure you have a good place to rest the gun while sighting so you get consistency. I put some outdoor cushions on top of my garbage bin, and that worked well, even though it was very low tech.
Once I sighted it in, I was getting a 1.5-2″ grouping at 30 yards. I had a paper target on a 3.4″ piece of plywood. This gun punched those slugs into the ply with the tail of the pellet countersunk about 1/32″, so this gun has serious power. It’s a bit heavy, but the biggest drawback for smaller people (kids especially) is the break action requires reasonable force. I’m 5′ 8″, a80lbs and it’s no issue for me, but I imagine smaller people/kids may struggle a little. And that’s why it hits hard. -Myrna S.
Trending Review: I love my rifle. Scope did not come “field ready”, or attached, which is typical, but a little time taken to dial it in and has been incredibly accurate, round after round. Going to try some jsb exact pellets next, but the gamo red fires have been quite impressive. Dropped some nuisance birds from 75 yards no problem. Highly recommend. Out here in Cali the bird flu pandemic is scarilly live and Im doing whatever I can to protect my flock. -George
Reassuring Review: I’ve been looking to purchase a pellet gun for quite some time and had my eye on the Gamo air rifle. After it arrived, I decided to test its operation and the power it provides. It’s rated at 1250 fps and when I tested it against a 5/8″ piece of cedar, I was amazed that it penetrated the wood board, 3 pieces of cardboard and went into the tree behind the target. I haven’t mounted the scope yet…and will need to sight it in at the local gun range. Very happy with how easy it is to cock, load a pellet and set the safety by the trigger. 5 stars! -Mister T
