1. Foxelli Carbon Fiber Trekking Poles

Highlight: Lightweight, collapsible trekking poles feature comfortable cork grips, quick flip locks, and all-terrain accessories, suitable for hiking and hunting on different trails.
Trending Review:First, let’s talk a little about why I bought trekking poles in the first place. Upon retiring, I was healthy and in good physical condition. I love being with nature and one of my many interests included hiking… mostly while on camping trips and in the Appalachians and nearby Sourland Mountains (central NJ).
I had never used trekking poles before and felt like I didn’t need them. Yet, after joining a local hiking and outdoor club, I noticed a large number of members using trekking poles on a regular basis and seeming to rely and benefit from them.
After I started to notice some knee pain from making steep declines down rocky slopes where my legs would take a pounding, I decided to give them a try. Guess what? No more knee pain. Not only that, but with the extra balance the poles provided, I found myself a faster hiker. I was also less likely to fall on slippery terrain.
Rock hopping to cross a stream suddenly became much easier with two poles in the water or on adjacent rocks to help balance. Hikers without poles tended to walk more cautiously through slippery mud, whereas I could maintain a nice cruising speed without slowing down, as I had two extra limbs with which to keep my balance on the ground.
About the only time I don’t bother with poles is if I know in advance that the ground will be firm and flat. These are great trekking poles… I just bought my second pair so that I can keep one pair at home and the other with relatives (where I also hike), so I don’t have to worry about transporting them on the airlines.
What’s to like about these poles? Everything:
– Very lightweight and strong (as one would expect with carbon fiber).
– Flexible so don’t have to worry about misshapen poles if one occasionally gets jammed between rocks or caught between boards on a boardwalk or catwalk… at least mine have survived minor pole jams intact thus far whereas older aluminum poles did not fair as well.
– Quick adjustment is great for changing length when transitioning from flats to uphill or downhill.
– Collapses easily by flipping tabs to store nicely on pack or in car or at home.
– Cork handles are very comfortable in any climate
– Hand straps easily adjustable for custom fit
– Easy to share among friends and family, since pole quickly adjusts in size
– Easy switch to large baskets for xc skiing
– Durable materials have weathered well across all seasons, as well as through muddy paths and stream crossings.
– Not the cheapest or most expensive poles on the market, but in my opinion… the best poles for the money.
– Have not found ANY negatives with these poles thus far!
Bottom line: I spent a fair amount of time researching various poles online and asking others for their opinions, and I ended up with these poles. I love these poles. Perhaps you will too. Whatever you decide, best of luck with your selection of trekking poles.-Robert P. Wederich Jr
Supportive Review:I bought these poles a few months ago after having NEVER used a trekking pole. I’m a surveyor and have worked in remote Alaska “hiking” for my job in the Brooks mountain range for 10-12 hours a day, 7 days a week, months on end.
I did this in 2006 and 2007 when I was 38 and 39 years old. I’ve always been “athletic” and been in the woods a lot for my job and hunting and fishing and hiking. I wish I had known about trekking poles earlier in my life!! I’m now 50 years old and in great shape and training for an upcoming archery elk hunt in Idaho this September.
I’ve been wearing a 60 lb backpack while training for my hunt. I’ve been hiking mountains and generally going “all over” through the mountains on the “rim” here in AZ. Those poles are AWESOME!! I really notice how much they help when going down steep terrain.
I put the poles out in front of me and put the top of the pole in my palm so I can put lots of weight on the pole, I make sure the pole bottom is secure and use it to help take the weight off of my knees. and for more secure footing. When I reviewed “trekking poles” on a hunting website they said its like “4 wheel drive for your body”. I was skeptical but now I’m a believer.
I may not use the poles when I don’t have a heavy pack on my back, but I can tell you they are awesome when you have a heavy load on your back! I’ve put these poles through a lot so far and put a lot of weight on them and so far they are holding up great. I like how the locking mechanisms can be adjusting to make sure they’re tight on the poles and don’t slip. I’m 6’4″ 195 lbs and when I have a 60lb pack its 255lbs total weight and I have put most of my weight on the poles and they haven’t failed yet!
If you’re going to hike with a heavy pack I highly recommend these poles. I can tell you they take a lot of wear off of your knees going downhill.-Glen D.
2. Hiker Hunger Fiber Trekking Poles:

Highlight: Lightweight and collapsible, these trekking poles feature comfortable cork grips, quick flip locks, adjustable heights, and all-terrain accessories for reliable support on hunting trips and outdoor adventures.
Trending Review:I purchased a pair for my wife and I to use for local hikes and mountain trails. We’ve hiked without sticks for years, probably due to my sense of not wanting to come off as feeble.
After all, we didn’t use them in the Marines, why would I start now? Boy was I missing out! Using these have made our hiking experiences far more enjoyable! Rather than working as hard to gain a foot hold or easing slowly down a slippery hill, we are both able to make steady “three points of contact” that makes traveling rocky terrain, slippery hills, and steep trails so much easier and fun to conquer!
As far as the sticks themselves, I did a lot of research before purchasing and found these to be the biggest bang for my buck. They are super lightweight! Actually surprisingly so, yet they are very strong and steady! The locking mechanisms have never slipped even when I drive the tips hard down into the earth to get a firm grip!
The cork hand grips are very comfortable along with a nice rubber mound topper that I use at times to lean on when going down hills.Granted, I’m not a highly experienced cross country hiker, but I cannot imagine what the big name brand sticks could improve on over these that would justify paying pay 2x or 3x the price!
My wife and I absolutely love these sticks! They make us feel like a pair of Billy goats! Don’t hesitate to pull the trigger on these. I’m betting you’ll love them too!-LanceBN
Supportive Review:This is a terrific hiking pole at a great price. I’m a serious hiker, have hiked for years, use poles hard and Leki has been my preferred hiking pole since I discovered them decades ago.
These “Hiker Hunger” poles offers pretty much everything Leki does (and maybe a bit more) for about 1/2 the price. (Understand that I am comparing the three-part collapsible pole and not the four-part foldable pole–which I do not recommend except maybe for light use.) I got these poles about a month ago and so far have used them four times and I have a sense they will be with me for the long-haul.
I can’t say for sure but these carbon-fiber shafts seem almost as strong as your typical aluminum shafts, but time will tell. Also, this is the first pole (other than Leki) I’ve found where the handle has a rounded top. This is great for hiking down steep rocky trails, allowing you to comfortably put you palms on top of the poles as you descend, rather than having to grip them. (Admittedly, this feature will probably not be used by most buyers.)
The design of the wrist/palm strap is also excellent and easy to adjust, although the thickness of the nylon where it enters the pole does not seem that sturdy and I’m wondering if it will hold up under hard use. (And it does not look replaceable, though I’m not sure. Sellers, plz let me know if I’m wrong. )
Either way, if you use it simply as a wrist strap (rather than wrist and palm as is best) this won’t matter. In writing this review, I note that there is now at least one other brand that seems to be selling pretty much the same item but for a bit less.
I’m speculating that the poles were designed by this group (Hiker Hunger Outfitters) but maybe the factory chose to “share” the design with other marketers.Anyhow, at $60 including free sipping, these poles are a terrific buy.-Roberto
3. TrailBuddy Trekking Poles

Highlight: Lightweight 7075 aluminum trekking poles offer durable support and easy portability for hunting, hiking, and uneven trails.
Trending Review:I have never owned another pair of hunting poles, so I cannot compare with other brands, mechanisms, or materials. I used other people’s poles a few times before buying my own, and I’ve checked out poles in sporting goods stores.
I use tripods for my camera, binoculars and telescopes, so I’ve used collapsible devices with different kinds of locking mechanisms. I generally do not like adjustable/collapsible locking mechanisms that screw to tighten or loosen.
The hinged flip-tabs on these poles actually have surprised me with how sturdy and reliable they are. They’re adjustable, too, so you can tighten the locking tabs more or less depending on your preference.-Joe
Supportive Review: These trailbuddy poles are a practical choice for hunters who need lightweight, durable support on rough trails. Made from 7075 aluminum, they are designed to handle regular outdoor use while remaining easy to carry.
Their collapsible design makes them convenient to pack, and they can help improve balance when walking over uneven ground. Overall, they are a useful option for hunting, hiking, and long outdoor walks.-NaomiE

They adjust easily, lock securely, and have stayed put while hiking. I’ve found them especially helpful for balance, reducing strain on my legs, and managing uneven weight in my pack. On longer walks and colder hikes, they’ve made things feel more stable and controlled rather than fatiguing.
The grips are comfortable, straps are easy to adjust, and the included tips make them versatile for different surfaces. They pack down nicely when not in use and are easy to carry.
